goPeer is a financial wellness company and Canada’s first regulated consumer peer-to-peer lender, connecting borrowers and investors through an online marketplace. goPeer replaces banks and traditional financial institutions to provide better rates to borrowers while creating a new investment opportunity available to all Canadians.

We have recently launched with significant traction and are on course to rank among the fastest growing FinTech start-ups in Canada. To support our growth, we are actively recruiting for the position of Senior Database Developer, with focus on PL/pgSQL programming, database architecture, data modelling and query optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Function/stored procedure and trigger development using PL/pgSQL
  • Future proof database architecture, data modelling and schema design
  • Performance optimization, query analysis and tuning
  • Coordinate and work closely with the existing full stack and back end development team
  • Provide recommendations for the optimization and enhancement of processes and systems
  • Advocate for the use of best practices in development and test-driven methodologies
  • Ensure that compliance, security, and privacy remain at the forefront of all decisions
  • Maintain technical documentation and assist in the preparation of end-user documentation
  • Maintain focus on project timeline and deliverables to ensure adequate focus on priorities, and to tackle obstacles or correct course in a timely manner
  • Work with stakeholders and customers to resolve deficiencies and process feedback
  • Bring a positive attitude to the team to fuel momentum and a healthy environment

  • 4+ years of relevant database development experience, preferably using PostgreSQL, and bonus if in a related industry

  • Able to work collaboratively with a team as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities while balancing objectives and overcoming distractions
  • Good working knowledge of agile methodologies and the application development lifecycle

  • Proficient in current development standards and methodologies
  • Strong development skills with experience preferably using PL/pgSQL

  • Extend the portal to optimize user experience, with focus on design, usability, and performance

  • Produce a new hybrid mobile app to replace the platform on mobile for a better user experience

  • Coordinate and work closely with the existing full stack and back end development team

  • Provide recommendations for the optimization and enhancement of processes and systems

You will be challenged to think differently and contribute to the goPeer’s vision. Reporting directly to the CTO and technical co-founder, your primary objective will be to refine the platform’s architecture while executing on a detailed development plan.

Credit Officer

Overview

To support our continued growth, we are actively recruiting a Credit Officer, with the responsibility of leading credit-related functions, including loan underwriting.

We are an early-stage start-up and are looking for several key qualities while building our team. This opportunity is for you if you are passionate about personal finance and are driven to transform an industry through creativity and innovation. You will be challenged to think differently and contribute to the company’s vision. Reporting directly to the CEO and co-founder, your primary objective will be to refine and enhance our operational processes underpinning the goPeer peer-to-peer lending platform.

Responsibilities

The Credit Officer is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, evaluating and approving loan applications. The Credit Officer has the authority to grant exception approval(s) where a loan application does not satisfy company policy.

  • Apply detailed knowledge and understanding of company Policies and Exception Approvals.
  • Assess and analyze loan applications; review, evaluate and analyze credit and financial history of applications including capacity to pay to make final underwriting decision.
  • Grant Approvals applications in accordance with company policy as a loan underwriter
  • Provide rationale in regards to the underwriting process and the analysis that took place where such applications are either approved or refused.
  • Adhere to acceptable review timeframes for analysis of applications and underwriter best practices
  • Answer queries from sales staff pertaining to applications submitted for analysis and/or exception approval from the underwriting team.
  • Pinpoint fraudulent documents during analysis and report these to appropriate departments and the underwriting unit.
  • Match and validate application information such as income, paystubs and credit ratings to make a final underwriting decision in the approval process
  • Provide customer support (emails, live chat, phone)

Requirements

  • Previous relevant industry experience required
  • Able to work collaboratively with a team as well as independently with minimal supervision
  • An effective communicator, able to communicate well both written and verbally
  • High level of computer literacy, Intermediate to Advance skill level in Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work under pressure and in a fast paced environment.
  • Criminal and Credit record checks will be administered
